Maybe it’s understandable that the feeling of a condom is not the same while making love, or having sex, but I read a study saying women who do not use condoms are less likely to end up depressed… or less likely to attempt suicide. The study that was conducted by Gordon Gallup, Ph.D., a psychologist at the State University of New York, found that it was less likely for women who do not use condoms to end up depressed or attempt suicide than those who did, or are not sexually active. This lead Gallup to believe that semen contains somewhat of a powerful and potentially addictive mood-altering chemical that can drastically affect someone, even if they don’t realize it.
Here’s the weird part of the study – they also found that women who routinely had sex without condoms became gradually more depressed as more time passed since their last sexual encounter. That’s crazy, huh? Personally, I’m still kind of iffy about it, but this is just to feed the minds and get people thinking that it could potentially happen to some.
Gallup surveyed 293 college women and also found that those who did not use condoms were more than likely the ones who initiates sex and seek out new partners as soon as a relationship would end.
“These women are more vulnerable to the rebound effect, which suggests that there is a chemical dependency,” says Gallup.
I don’t know about you guys, but to me, it sounds like these women were never really fond of their sex partners to begin with or they’re nymphos. In Gallup’s study, the variables he included to get his results were method of contraception, frequency of sex, as well as the women’s perception about their relationships. He thinks the women who regularly have sex without condoms might share personality traits that make them less vulnerable to depression.
Okay, so the study may show women who do not use condoms are less likely to be depressed, but damn, on the other hand, it seems they’re more likely to possibly crave the sex which can lead to cheating. Maybe?
All I know is, people should still use protection during sex because you don’t want to risk it… hey, I’m talking about STD’s and pregnancy, what were you talking about?
