Sex and Teens: The Law is Hypocritical

Some people say age is just a number, but apparently, it’s not when it comes to sex; even when it’s consensual sex between a couple that’s only three years apart or less.

I’ve heard many stories regarding teenagers who are 18 having consensual sex with their girlfriends who are under 18, still considered a minor, and guys are being locked up in jail for it. The thing is, even though they are within years apart, sometimes even less than a year, guys are still getting in trouble for it. I guess the law just doesn’t approve of it, but if couples are 18 and 19, respectively, that would be okay? *cough* hypocrites…

I know everyone that breathes the way I do are hypocrites, and that’s understandable, but to make a law and enforce hypocrisy are consensual sex, are you serious?

I recently read about a teenager, Keith Armstrong, who is currently in the Hartford Correctional Center for almost three weeks now, because he had consensual sex (Technically, he was charged with sexual assault in the second degree.) with his teenage girlfriend who is three years younger than he is.

My mistake, “three years and 15 days.”

For the record, in most states, the law is a more reasonable four years.

But after Armstrong tries to get his life together, he gets arrested for consensual sex and he’s currently jailed because the judge decided to put an outrageous bail of $60,000 and nobody has come up with that money yet.

Now to get someone out of jail from bail, you only need to come up with 10 percent of the money upfront, but still, $6,000? How many of us have that just laying around? If so, I would suggest donating to DatCurious.com to support my site.

I mean, all this happened in Connecticut, of all states. This is the same state where there was an adult teacher who had sex with a teenager and was freed. This is the same state where birth control is handed out to high school kids, and if the parents agree, to middle school kids too. And lastly, this is the same state when 15-year-old girls can get abortions without their parents’ consent.

Wow… yet, Armstrong, 18, is still locked up for having consensual sex with his girlfriend who is ‘three years and 15 days’ younger than he is.

And I know for a fact that a lot of teenage women date guys like 10 years older than them! Better be careful with what you’re doing!

But overall, you have to love the country we live in, huh? And yes, we are ALL hypocrites… me, you, your parents, friends, and apparently, the law.
